Golf in Sotogrande

Few places pack so much good golf into so little space: a Ryder Cup venue, several championship courses and a friendly public course, all within a short drive.

The courses

Real Club Valderrama

Host of the 1997 Ryder Cup, the first held in continental Europe, and regularly ranked among the best courses in Europe. A members' club with limited visitor tee times; book well ahead.

Real Club de Golf Sotogrande

The original Sotogrande course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in the 1960s. A classic, tree-lined parkland course with limited visitor access.

La Reserva Club

A modern course in the hills of La Reserva de Sotogrande, with wide views and a resort-style clubhouse.

Almenara

A 27-hole complex near Sotogrande with three combinable nines, a hotel and practice facilities, and one of the more accessible places for visitors to play.

San Roque Club and San Roque Golf

Two championship courses between San Roque and Sotogrande, once a single estate and now two separate clubs under different management: San Roque Club and San Roque Golf.

Alcaidesa Links and Heathland

Two courses on the coast near La Línea, with views to Gibraltar and Africa. The Links runs along the shore.

La Cañada

A friendly course in Guadiaro, popular with locals, with more relaxed green fees.

Tips for playing here
