How this site is paid for

You should know what our interest is before you weigh anything we publish. So here it is, in plain terms.

We are paid for introductions

If you ask us to introduce you to a firm and that introduction leads to a transaction, we may be paid a referral fee by that firm. It costs you nothing and it does not change the price you pay for a property. We will tell you at the time of any introduction whether we expect to be paid for it.

What that money can never buy

It cannot buy a place in the figures. No agency is named anywhere in the Price Index, in the price movement record, or in any number on this site — we publish areas, not agents. There is no ranking to climb, no listing to sponsor, and no arrangement under which paying us more would move a figure by a single euro.

We also carry no advertising. We were offered an easier business model than this one and turned it down, because a site with a banner on it is a site you would be right to distrust.

How we choose who to introduce you to

From our own measurement, not from who pays us. We record what every firm in this market is advertising, every night. That means we can see which of them genuinely works in the area, the price band and the property type you are asking about — and which is simply taking whatever comes along. That is the whole basis of the recommendation.

Where our record is too short to judge a firm fairly, we say so rather than guessing.

Our own connections

We are connected to businesses that operate in this market, and one of them may sometimes be the right introduction for you. When that is the case we will say so explicitly at the time — you will never be handed to a connected firm without being told it is connected. Their listings are excluded from every published figure, as the methodology sets out.

What we are not

We are not an estate agency. We do not list property, hold client money, negotiate, or act for either side of a transaction. The firm you are introduced to does that, and your relationship on the transaction is with them.
